Game of Week

Arsenal V Tottenham Hotspur
This one is always close, but this year, I'm a strong believer that arsenal will do well, if they want to do that though they can't let their North London rivals stand in their way.  It's too early into the season call this a six pointer, but it it will be vital for both sides moral.

Prediction:  2-1

Aresnal are strong favourites going into this one and if Leicster want to get their first Premier League three points they should probably look elsewhere.

The defending champions should be able to continue their winning ways here and deny Stoke a shock victory.

Chelsea    V    Everton
The toffees want to get their first three points of the season and I can see this one going close.
Prediction:   1-2

Game of The Week
Liverpool   V    Tottenham
The hosts will want to thrash Totenham in style as they did last season 5-0 but I expect Liverpool to prevail here with their new signing Mario Ballotelli in action in the Premeir League once again.

The second week of premier league action saw the reigning champions win again and The Toffees and The Gunners draw level, as predicted, at 2-2.

On Monday, City beat Liverpool comfortably by 3 goals to 1 at the Etihad as new signing Mario Balotelli watched as his new side were beaten by his former club.

Ballotelli's Back

Mario Ballotelli has completed his £16m move to Liverpool.

Pundits have said that it's,'A no brainer,' and,'What can go wrong.'  It's a deal that is likely to come just before an Angel Di Maria move to Manchester United.

'A Miracle' is needed for Manchester United to the the title

Louis Van Gaal has admitted that Manchetser United will need 'A Miracle' to win the premier league this season.

Louis Van Gaal has been left with the job of saving an unbalanced squad from failing to contest the title last season, Phil Neville has also stated that he is 'scared' for his former club and that it is vital that more signings are made before the end of the transfer window.

Louis Van Gaal was on course to sign Angel Di Maria although this now seems to have fallen apart.

Big Match Predictions

Chelsea    V    Leicster City
If Leicster could get a point here as they did against Everton it would be incredible, but that could be a big ask of the newly promoted side at Stamford Bridge.

The Gunners will want the win but Everton need the three points after their draw with Leicster.

A home loss to Swansea was just what Louis Van Gaal didn't need to start of his Machester United career and a win here is vital.
Prediction:  Sunderland    1-3    Manchester United

Game of The Week
Machester City   V    Liverpool
An early treat for English football fans as the game that last year provided us with the famous Gerrad slip returns but this time at the Etihad with both sides of the back of a win, Liverpool have replaced Suarez in the form of Mario Ballotelli agreeing move back to the premier league although he won't play this one, the game of the week's wide open!

Week Round Up

It was a great week in the premier league yet again as the title race took an unexpected turn.

To start the week Newcastle unexpectedly got thrashed by Sunderland at St. James's park 3-0 and West Ham triumphed over Swansea City 2-0 despite a hugely controversial red card.  The appeal has recently been refused by the FA.   Cardiff City triumphed against Norwich from 1-0 down in the 5th minute to win 2-1.

Everton just managed a win against Aston Villa, Fulham got thrashed 3-0 at Southampton at home with all of the goals coming after the 64th minute.

To finish the week Chelsea completed a shock result by defeating Manchester City at home for the first time all season and became the first side to complete the Manchester City double since Everton in November 2010.

Week Round Up

It was another great week in the premier League as top spot changed hands and everyone was fighting for position and survival.

On Tuesday half the match's were played and we started off with Manchester United just about staying in the fight for the top four spots with a 2:0 win against Cardiff with a strong Juan Mata debut.

Next Norwich and Newcastle played out a goal less draw and pre leaders Aresenal dropped crucial points in the title race with a 2:2 drew at St.Mary's.  Swansea beat Fulham 2:0 and Crystal palace  got a crucial foothold in the relagation battle with a 1:0 win against the Tigers.

Liverpool finished the day off with a sensational 4:0 Merseyside derby win against Everton.

On Wednesday the rest of the games were played.  West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa started everything off with a sensational 4:3 win for Aston Villa from 2 goals down in the first 9 minutes.

It was frustration for the Blues as well as Aresenal when they drew 0-0 against West Ham United with Jose Mourinho  complaining that West Ham played '18th centuary football.'

Sunderland beat Stoke 1:0 but the big game that everyone's talking about is Manchester City grabbing their chance to go top with a 5:1 thy easing of Tottenham Hotspur.  They were leading in the 15th minute through Servio Aguero, (surprise suprise!) and with 4 different goal scorers in the second half for City, Capou was the only one who could get a consallation for Hotspur.  Tim Sherwood might have to perk up if he wants to stay in the job!

Aresenal Still On Course

Aresenal stated there intent in the FA cup last night with a fantastic 4-0 win.

Aresenal kept their huge dream of a treble alive when they beat Coventry City in the FA cup yesterday.  Some will say that the winning side didn't deserve such a big win and maybe on another day Coventry could have got an equeliser, but it wasn't to be.  Aresenal will be content with a great 4-0 victory.

Team Of The Week

GK:Tim Krul
Defenders:Shaw/   Kompany/  Sagna/   Williamson
Midfielder:Tiote/  Silva/   Ki/  Henderson
Strikers:Adam Johson/   Cabaye

Manchester City Fly High

Manchester City are still on course for the quadruple as they ran rampage against the Hammers, winning by a record 9-0 on aggregate.

The first leg at the Etihad ended in a brilliant 6-0 win for City and was an unassailable lead.
In the second leg last night Negrado opened the scoring in three minutes and Aguero got the second for City in the twenty fourth minute.  Negrado proceeded to finish off the scorin on the hour with a great goal.

City will play either Manchester United in a Manchester derby or Sunderland in the final.

Monday, 20 January 2014

Manchester United, End of an Empire

Sir Alex had his head in his hands as Jose Mourinho's Chelsea all but ended Manchester United's title hopes.

Samuel Eto'o scored early on in the 17th minute to give Chelsea the lead.  He scored again on the 45th minute and netted again for his hat-rick in the 49th minute.  Javier Hernández got a consallation in the 78th minute but just when things couldn't get any worse, Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic got sent off for a tackle on Eden Hazard.

It's joy for Jose and despair for Moyes as the United manager refuses to admit to the title being of reach.

Week Round Up

It was another great week in the Premier league as Manchester City hit one hundread and the Red Devils hopes of retaining the title were all but ended.

Southampton kicked the week off in the early kick off with two goal but a defiant Sunderland side managed to pull it back for a great 2-2 draw with last weeks hat-rick hero Adam Johnson got the equaliser.

Aresnal came from 0-0 at half time to grab a 2-0 win against Fulham and Crystal Palace came off the bottom of the table with a 1-0 win over Stoke City.

Manchester City came back from 1-1 to grab a good 4-2 win at the Etihad against Cardiff City. Norwich got a vital 1-0 win against the Tigers and Newcastle continued their European bid as they overcam a defiant Newcastle side away to end a run of three straight losses at Upton Park.

Liverpool failed to beat a great Aston Billa side. But Liverpool did manage to come back from 2-0 down with a controversial penalty.

On Sunday Emanuel Adebayor got two goals in a comfortable 3-1 win for Spurs against Swansea City.

And of course, the story all over the back pages today is Jose Mourinho's fantastic 3-1 win with a Samuel Eto'o hat-rick to all but end United's dreams of retaining the Premier League title.
